All day Thursday we prepared for the Baja 500 by cooking, packing, and watching videos of past years. Even then, I had no idea what to expect. Nevertheless, the weekend was amazing. We sat on the rocks watching the tide come in, took walks down the beach, played bocce ball, ate and ate and ate some more, sat around the campfire, and of course—watched motorcycles, cars, and trucks race by us with trails of dust filling the air. I had never experienced anything like it, but I truly enjoyed every moment. There is nothing like doing a whole lot of nothing, especially when you are doing nothing at the beach. We camped on the beach and each morning I awoke to the sound of the waves crashing into the rocks. Sunday, we jumped off the rocks and into the water. It was like ice, but it was truly amazing. It was my first time in the Pacific Ocean! What a weekend!

However, now the time has come to work. Tomorrow, the truck with all the building supplies for the summer will arrive, and Dennis, Debbie, Sergio, and I will unload everything. The rest of the week will be much like today in that we will be getting ready for the summer by washing cars, cleaning up the ministry site, and making sure all the tools are working and ready to be used.

This week, please pray:

  1. That I continue to settle in here in Ensenada
  2. For the relationships that will be built between all the staff
  3. That we are all well prepared for this summer physically, emotionally, and spiritually
